Asus Announces The Stylish ZenWatch
After teasing the ZenWatch for the longest time, asus finally unveiles it’s first smartwatch at IFA 2014 in Berlin. The android wear powered ZenWatch features a 1.63 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320. Although it do not join the latest trend of circular smartwatches but the curved 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 on the watch makes it feel like a more traditional watch. The body consists of curved steel surrounded by a rose gold band, which in my opinion looks very elegant. And the style quotient doesn’t end here, the strap is made up of genuinely stitched Italian Leather, which you can swap with any 22 mm band of your choice too.
The ZenWatch is a beauty with brains! It sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SOC inside paired with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of onboard storage. The battery is 1.4 Wh which lasts all day long. It’s also packed with Bluetooth 4.0 for pairing as well as it’s IP55 certified making it water and dust Resistance. (It’s resistant to water, not Water Proof! So don’t you dare to go diving with this beauty 0n your wrist!) And for all you fitness freaks out there, the ZenWatch also has biosensor, which will know your heartrate as well as steps you’ve walked and calories burnt.
Apart from the normal Android Wear features, Asus has added their own features of Zen UI too. Like Watch unlock, which let you unlock your phone or tablet by double tapping the watch screen, pretty neat stuff! Apart from that there are features like “Cover to Mute,” “Find My Phone,” “Remote Camera” and “Presentation Control,” which are pretty self explanatory in themself.
Asus ZenWatch is priced at €199 (Roughly $260) which is definitely a little more than the current android wear offerings. Is the ZenWatch worth it? Does it really worth the extra bucks when you can get the same processing power for $200? Well if you want a classy looking watch, and don’t mind to spend extra money, it’s definitely worth the extra money! The ZenWatch might come in your nearest stores in late q3/early q4.
