Google has announced that it’s launching offline navigation for its Maps app on Android; the iOS counter-part isn’t ready for the offline tool yet.

In order to use the offline navigation in Google Maps, you’ll first have to download the map of your desired route. And when your device is away from the internet, the Maps app will automatically switch into offline mode and provide turn-by-turn navigation –  depending upon your action.

The update won’t let you check live traffic stats, however, it can offer a handful of useful information about places. Hours of operation, contact details, and ratings, for instance.

The update is now on roll for Android, while there’s no word from Google on when the feature will arrive for iOS folks.
