Apple Pay is set to arrive in China early next year. The service will allow users to perform transactions with their Apple Pay-compatible iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch in the country.

“Apple Pay has revolutionized the way millions of people pay every day with their iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.

In partnership with China UnionPay, the contactless payment system will use the same industry-standard tokenization system to process transactions.

“China is an extremely important market for Apple and with China UnionPay and support from 15 of China’s leading banks, users will soon have a convenient, private and secure payment experience,” said Cue.

Apple Play recently launched in the UK, Canada, and Australia. With China in the list for early 2016, the contactless payment system should see a huge boost in use count when it launches in the country, as China itself is a huge market for consumer electronics.
