Snap Inc., previously known as Snapchat, today announced its first hardware product, Spectacles. And the rebranding as Snap Inc. is now visible across the company’s online channels.
Snap’s Spectacles are actually sunglasses with an integrated video camera that’s capable of capturing up to 10 seconds of video for sharing. The camera has 115-degree angle lens, which is very close to human eyes’ natural field of view, and shoots in circular format. The circular video format can be played full screen in any orientation.
The idea behind Spectacles is to make you re-live your memories – through your own eyes – the way you experienced it. Spectacles connect to the Snapchat app via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and transfer your Snaps to the app’s Memories section directly. Available in three different colors, Spectacles will cost you $130 when it launches.
