Nextbit joins Razer, stops selling Robin smartphone

In a surprising move today, Nextbit has been acquired by PC-maker Razer. The rebel family grows!
Nextbit, the company behind the cloud-based Robin, will operate as an independent entity under Razer while working on unique mobile design and experiences. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nextbit Robin started as a kickstarter project in 2016, raising over $1.3 million in funding for its “never running out of storage” approach. It was also loved for its unique design and affordable price tag.

The company has stopped selling all of its products, including Robin and all accessories; however, the company says it will continue to support existing users, with six months of extended warranties, along with software updates through February 2018. Nextbit’s forums and social streams will remain as it is.
