Apple reveals trailer for ‘Planet of the Apps’ reality TV show

Carpool Karaoke isn’t the only Apple Music production releasing this year; Apple has shared the first teaser video of Planet of the Apps, its upcoming reality TV show, which is very similar to Shark Tank and The Voice combined — but focuses on apps, as the name reads.
Apple exec Eddy Cue during Code Conference on Monday — alongside the show producer Ben Silverman — previewed Planet of the Apps with its first trailer. The show will be exclusive to Apple Music subscribers, and will launch sometime this year.
Planet of the Apps will star four celebrities turned judges, Will.i.am, Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gary Vaynerchuk, who will respond to 60-second pitches made while app developers descend down an escalator. Yay, the escalator pitch! Either left or right, the Tinder style. If multiple judges show their interest, then the participant can choose, too.
After getting a mentor, app developers will have to go through an incubation period, getting help from companies like Musically, Uber, Yelp on the development part. Once they’re ready, the final pitching will take place in front of Lightspeed Venture Partners, one of the biggest venture capital firms on the planet, to secure funding. Plus, they will also be able to feature their app on the App Store.
Apple plans to air Planet of the Apps weekly on Apple Music, rather than dropping the entire season at once.
