OnePlus has begun rolling out the public build of OxygenOS 5.1.0 to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. The update is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, with the latest Android security patch from April.

Beside the system upgrade and security patch, the OxygenOS 5.1.0 software update accounts for iPhone X-style, full-screen gesture support on the OnePlus 5T. What that means is that the navigation buttons will be hidden in favor of the following swipe gestures when you update your 5T:

  • Swipe up from the middle — Home
  • Swipe up from left/right — Back
  • Swipe up from middle and hold — Recent

Moreover, the update includes optimizations for Gaming Mode in OxygenOS, and category tags in the search section of the app drawer. As usual, this is an incremental rollout so it will take some time before the update is widely available.
