Microsoft unveils Surface Studio 2 as the ‘fastest Surface ever’
Featuring the same design, the Surface Studio 2 has 2018 specs for more powerful computing.
Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled the Surface Studio 2 during its Surface event in New York. The 2018 Surface Studio 2 is the ‘fastest Surface ever,’ claims Microsoft, while retaining the same first-generation industrial design.
The Surface Studio 2 features the same 28-inch LCD display with 13.5 million pixels but upscales the brightness at an additional 38-percent and contrast at 22-percent. The device now supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity for the Surface Pen and its tilt functionality, thanks to the new oxide transistor technology that’s backing it. Oh! Surface Dial, too.
With Intel Kaby-Lake i7 chip and 16GB of RAM, the new Surface Studio 2 packs the next generation Pascal graphics from Nvidia that delivers 50-percent faster graphics power. That’s going to boost up tasks like video editing and gaming by half. Another addition is a pure 2TB SSD instead of the hybrid disk drive.
Microsoft did not reveal a shipping date for the Surface Studio 2, saying “coming soon.” Pricing starts at $3,500 USD for the base model. Pre-orders are open now.
