Facebook launches standalone Messenger app for macOS and Windows
No more switching browsers to make calls on Messenger.

Facebook has launched a standalone Messenger app for macOS and Windows. This is the first desktop app from Facebook, allowing users to video and text chat from their desktop. No more switching browsers to make calls on Messenger.
Now more than ever, people are using technology to stay in touch with the people they care about, even when physically apart. Over the past month, we saw more than a 100% increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger. Now with apps for MacOS and Windows, the best of Messenger is coming to desktop, including unlimited and free group video calls.
The Messenger Desktop app works seamlessly across platforms, including mobile and desktop, meaning your chats and calls are always synced regardless of the device you’re using. Especially for Safari users, who used to switch browsers to make a Messenger call, the Messenger Desktop app is a bliss, offering Dark Mode as well.
Facebook Messenger app is available on the Mac App Store and Microsoft Store.
