Google brings camera-based translation to KaiOS phones in India
KaiOS was running on more than 80 million devices globally last year.

Google had brought camera-based translations to Google Lens last year. Users could point the camera to a particular text and translate it into more than 100 languages. Now the same feature has been extended to Google Assistant on KaiOS phones in India.
Google Assistant users on KaiOS devices can place their phone camera at real-world text for translation and the text will be read back in real-time in user preferred language. It can also be defined right in there. The search giant made the new feature available for English, Hindi and several other prominent Indian languages including Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil, with Gujarati and Kannada support coming soon.
KaiOS is an operating system for feature phones such as Nokia 8110 4G, Nubia 50K that includes select Google services. The software was running on more than 80 million devices globally last year. In order to access camera-based translations on KaiOS, simply press the right soft key once within Google Assistant.
