Apple iPhone 12 Pro

Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro models come with a LiDAR Scanner for enhanced augmented reality experiences. Apple is making a very practical use of LiDAR combined with iPhone’s camera in its Measure app with the ability to measure someone’s height instantly.

According to Apple, you can even measure a person’s height when seated. It detects the person in the viewfinder and measures their height from toe to head.

iPhone 12 Pro Measure App

To measure a person’s height, simply open the Measure app and position the iPhone such that the person you want to measure appears on the screen from toe to head. After a moment, a line will appear at the top of the person’s head with their height measurement, which appears in feet and inches or in centimeters depending on your preference. You can go to Settings > Measure > Measure Units to select an option between imperial or metric.

The shutter button allows you to take a photo of the person with their height measurement. To save the recorded measurement, tap on the screenshot in the bottom-left corner of the screen, tap on Done, and then choose whether to save it in Photos or Files.

Apart from the iPhone 12 Pro models, the feature is also available on the 2020 iPad Pro line-up.
