Facebook’s new update for “Access Your Information” tool, will provide users detailed information about how their data is being used.

As reported by TechCrunch, “The tool first launched in 2018 in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, when the personal data of up to 87 million Facebook users had been hijacked. Following that event, Facebook made a number of changes to how its platform apps worked and rolled out new features to make it easier for users to find and utilize Facebook’s privacy settings.”

“Access Your Information” is divided into eight categories:

  • Your Activity Across Facebook
  • Personal Information
  • Friends and Followers
  • Logged Information
  • Security and Login Information
  • Apps and Websites off of Facebook
  • Ads Information, and Preferences

These categories are again further broken down into sub-categories, making it easier to go through the data you want to view or remove. It provides a detailed overview of the information you shared on Facebook.

Additionally, Facebook has included Search functionality in the new update. You can now find your data by using a keyword like “location,” and there’s information on your location history.

“Access Your Information” is available in the Facebook iOS app. Users can go to the Settings & Privacy section, tap on Settings, and scroll down to the “Access Your Information”. The feature is available for iOS and Android users and will soon expand to the desktop.
