Beats Studio Buds unveiled with active noise cancellation
The compact earbuds come in classic black, white, and red colors.

Beats today announced its second true wireless earbuds, the Beats Studio Buds. The compact earbuds come in classic black, white, and red colors, for $149.99.
The Studio Buds have no ear hooks or stems, unlike the Powerbeats Pro, resulting in a compact and lightweight design at just 5.1g per earbud. There are three different soft silicone ear-tip options for a comfortable grip, in the box. They feature active noise cancellation (ANC) to block unwanted external noise and are IPX4 water and sweat resistant. There’s also Transparency mode which brings external surrounding sounds into the earbuds to match a natural listening experience.
Its powerful, balanced sound is driven by the proprietary 8.2mm, dual-element diaphragm driver, which features a central rigid piston with a flexible outer surround. Coupled with a two-chamber acoustic design, Studio Buds achieves outstanding stereo separation and low harmonic distortion across the frequency curve so you hear every note.

The wearable buds have the multipurpose “b” button on them, which can be configured to perform certain tasks like handling calls, controlling music and video content, and switching between ANC and Transparency modes. They are voice assistant enabled, too.

The battery life on the Studio Buds is up to eight hours of listening time, with two additional charges backed by the charging case. When the ANC mode or Transparency mode is turned on, they will offer up to five hours of listening time. And the fast charging offers up to one hour of battery fuel in just five minutes of charging.
Pairing the Studio Buds is one-touch, with an AirPods-like pairing experience on iOS 14.6 and later. On Android, they support Fast Pair and require at least Android 6.0. Furthermore, the Studio Buds support both the Find My app on iOS and the Find My Device app on Android to locate them via their last known location when connected via Bluetooth. You can also play a sound to locate them when they are nearby. For Apple Music subscribers, the earbuds automatically play Spatial Audio for available tracks mixed in Dolby Atmos.
The Beats Studio Buds cost $149.99 and are available to pre-order in the United States and Canada from Apple and other retailers like Amazon and Best Buy beginning today. They will be available on June 24.
