Apple Watch ECG and irregular heart rhythm notification coming to South Korea
Releasing with iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1.

Apple’s electrocardiogram (ECG) and irregular heart rhythm notification features are coming to Apple Watch users in South Korea. Apple announced that the features will be released along with iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1.
The ECG feature allows users to measure electrical heart activity by simply placing their finger on Apple Watch’s digital crown for 30 seconds. This feature is already available in nearly 50 countries for Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6. The irregular heart rhythm notification feature checks up on user’s heartbeat and notifies if irregular heart rhythm is detected.
As these features are considered medical diagnostics, they require approval from individual countries to be made available. South Korea approved the ECG feature back in August, but it took Apple few more months to prepare for public release. Apple didn’t mention when it will release iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1, but given today’s announcement it should be sometime soon.
